Kentucky State Police (KSP) is the premier, full service law enforcement agency in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Information Officer III will be responsible for development of news releases, agency talking points, digital media content, script writing and production of official agency certificates. This individual will work closely with all team members of the Public Affairs Branch to provide timely dissemination of information to the public and keep media partners apprised of any upcoming events. This position will plan, develop and coordinate comprehensive communications programs that include media, public affairs and various publications to promote the mission of the agency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serves as primary researcher/writer of KSP press releases, talking points, articles and scripts.
- Writes, designs, edits and produces official KSP newsletter articles, postings for the internet/intranet sites, award programs and publications.
- Responsible for digital photography at news conferences, media events and agency programs to supplement agency news releases.
- Assists staff with coordinating special events, press conferences, awards and promotional ceremonies and cadet class graduations.
- Conducts targeted media dissemination and tracking of market penetration statewide.
- Prepares monthly summary of all written media coverage for dissemination.
- Assists with digital media marketing program and serves as a member of the social media team.
- Assists staff and other branches with special projects.
- Organizes and maintains file and historical photos of agency personnel and operations.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in journalism, public relations, or experience related to the duties and responsibilities of this job title series.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
