Rounding out Vault Law’s 2024 rankings season, the midsize rankings for regional prestige and quality of life are official, as is the 2024 Top 150 Under 150 list. “Susman Godfrey held onto its No.1 spots in New York and Texas, and Barack Ferrazzano did the same in Chicago,” said Carter Isham, Senior Law Editor at Vault. “And Virginia-based IP firm Harrity & Harrity ranked in the top two spots in 12 quality of life subcategories, helping re-capture its spot as No.1 Overall Best Midsize Law Firm to Work For.”

This year saw no change to the top spots for Midsize Regional Prestige, though each region saw new firms make the rankings—Fox Swibel Levin & Carroll LLP in Chicago, in New York, and Cokinos | Young in Texas.

In addition to the No. 1 Overall ranking, Harrity & Harrity earned the top spot in Associate/Partner Relations, Diversity, and Wellness—combined with its repeat No. 1s for Culture, Informal Training, Selectivity, and Technology & Innovation, the firm topped the lists in 7 quality of life categories. According to associates, the firm “makes extraordinary efforts to create an environment where all employees are valued and feel connected with each other.”
Robinson Bradshaw also did well this year, with top 10 rankings in all quality of life categories, including No. 2 Overall and the No. 1 spots for Hours, Pro Bono, and Satisfaction. Other new No. 1s include: Caldwell Intellectual Property Law, tied with last year’s No. 1 (Robinson Bradshaw) for Career Outlook; Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Mensing for Compensation; Stotler Hayes for Formal Training; and Edelson PC for Quality of Work. Susman Godfrey LLP remains No. 1 for Transparency.
Top 150 Under 150
The Top 150 Under 150 is Vault’s list of America’s leading small and midsize law firms with 150 lawyers or fewer. Vault created this list to recognize outstanding smaller firms. Eight new firms joined the list this year, replacing firms that merged or outgrew the list. This year’s new firms are: Edelson PC; Fox Swibel Levin & Carroll LLP; Goldman Ismail Tomaselli Brennan & Baum LLP; Gould & Ratner; McKool Smith; Otterbourg P.C.; Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.; and Tensegrity Law Group.
