Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Planning Specialist 3 to serve as the Statewide Erosion Control Lead in Tumwater, WA. This position is responsible for implementing and providing technical support for the erosion control program associated with the NPDES Municipal Stormwater and Construction Stormwater General Permits. This position independently conducts erosion control fall assessments of construction projects and Construction Site Erosion and Sediment Control trainings for the agency. The Statewide Erosion Control Lead position requires in-depth knowledge of erosion and sediment control risks and best management practices to coordinate with the Construction Office, Roadside Development Program, Materials Laboratory, and other internal and external stakeholders to evaluate, modify, and develop, as needed, Standard Specifications and other erosion control-related policy. This position also reviews erosion control products for use on WSDOT construction sites. These responsibilities are critical to maintaining environmental compliance with erosion and sediment control requirements in WSDOT’s NPDES Municipal Stormwater and Construction Stormwater General Permit. They also serve toward meeting the agency’s sustainability value of supporting environmental needs by reducing erosion and improving the quality of receiving water bodies.
