The Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest is hiring several seasonal Forestry Aid/Technician positions to support our recreation and timber programs. Applications will be accepted through 3/3/26 (not 3/22/26)!
Recreation Positions
These positions support all aspects of recreation management, including:
- Operating and maintaining campgrounds and day-use sites
- Maintaining trails and supporting backcountry areas
- Caring for eight wilderness areas
- Interacting with visitors and locals
Work is primarily outdoors, with some office duties. These positions are essential for maintaining world-class recreation resources like Lake Chelan, The Enchantments, Washington Pass, and sections of the Pacific Crest Trail.
Locations & Grade Levels:
- Methow Valley Ranger District (Winthrop, WA): GS-3/4/5/7
- Entiat Ranger District (Entiat, WA): GS-3/4/5/7
- Chelan Ranger District (Chelan, WA): GS-3/4/5/7
- Wenatchee River Ranger District (Leavenworth, WA): GS-3/4/5/7
- Cle Elum Ranger District (Cle Elum, WA): GS-4/5/7
- Naches Ranger District (Naches, WA): GS-3/4/5/7
Timber Positions
Timber positions will assist with timber sale preparation, including:
- Flagging unit boundaries and posting tags
- GPS mapping and data collection
- Identifying tree species and marking trees
- Measuring trees (diameters, height) and learning timber cruising basics
- Using software like ArcPro for mapping and data management
Work is typically on a small crew (1–3 members) with occasional travel to other districts. You will be hiking in steep terrain in all weather conditions.
