Organisation profile

At Trill, our mission is to help entertain, enlighten, and educate a young generation of people. To do this, we offer curated content created by Gen-Z, for Gen-Z, through thought-provoking articles, entertaining stories, intriguing videos, and investigative work.

The role will involve

Trill is looking to engage with Junior Editors who would be interested in undertaking a formal placement/internship within our multichannel, news, entertainment, and culture media publication.

Although the placement will not be financially remunerated, we believe that this is an excellent opportunity for promising students to hone their skills within a professional news and media environment.

Noting that the following is flexible based on the student’s educational needs, we generally expect that Junior Editors will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and researching areas of interest to our Gen-Z demographic to help feed into the content our journalists and contributors produce.
  • Discussing and working with journalists and contributors to develop pitches and ideas for content.
  • Editing and developing works submitted by contributors and authors.
  • Assisting with the creation/amelioration of internal writing guidelines/information packets.
  • Assisting with content schedule
  • Creating and scheduling content for our multi-channel social media platforms.
  • Reporting to their Team Leader

Skills required

We are looking for students who are pursuing a relevant degree, which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Journalism / Media
  • Languages / Literature
  • Marketing / Communications
  • Team Management
  • Proofreading/Editing

Naturally, excellent English language competencies, strong writing skills, and an ability to understand and present complex information in a concise and professional manner are required

What you will gain

Although not financially remunerated, the potential benefits to cannot be understated. Indeed, it is anticipated that in researching topics and areas of interest to our audience, writing, and editing articles, in addition to assisting with administrative & editorial duties, Junior Editors will invariably hone key competencies such as time management, professional communication, and commercial awareness. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop their CVs, personal portfolios, and professional visibility.

Moreover, the company plans to credit all original works to the editor (where applicable). Students will be invited to create an official Trill portfolio (with a company letterhead) of their work at the end of their placement/ internship, will receive a certificate of completion, and will have the opportunity to request a letter of recommendation.

Location of placement: 100% Remote

Hours: Flexible – Maximum 7hrs per week
