Are you looking for an opportunity to work with Tennessee State Parks (TSP)? We have an outstanding opportunity to work in a beautiful work environment at T.O. Fuller State Park in Memphis, Tennessee. One of the most historically significant parks in the TSP system, this 1,000-acre park preserves an important Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) legacy, interprets African American history, and connects visitors to the natural, cultural, and archaeological resources of southwest Memphis. The facilities at this park consist of trails, picnic areas, athletic and recreational facilities, public gathering spaces, and camping.
This position involves of a variety of responsibilities and the requirement for candidates to be on-call and work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in preferably natural or historic resource-based management, Parks and Recreation, or other related field. Additionally, it is required that the candidate be a state-commissioned officer recognized by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. A selected candidate who is not commissioned will be required to successfully complete the academy as a condition of continued employment. Highlighted Responsibilities:
- Support community outreach and build partnerships with local organizations, public officials, volunteers, and conservation groups to promote the park and strengthen community connections.
- Protect and manage natural and cultural resources through invasive-species control, restoration projects, resource monitoring, and visitor education.
- Plan and deliver interpretive programs and special events that connect visitors with the park’s African American history, CCC legacy, and natural and cultural resources.
- Coordinate assigned areas of responsibility and assist with daily park operations and visitor services.
- Engage in visitor and resource protection, emergency medical response, and front-line customer service.
