Annual Salary Range: $48,684 – $73,188
Looking for an opportunity to work with a collaborative team at the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC)? The Tennessee Geological Survey (TGS) is seeking candidates with experience conducting geologic investigations related to East Tennessee’s geology, geologic hazards, and mineral resources. This position is based out of the Knoxville Environmental Field Office.
The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, physical sciences (e.g., physics, chemistry, geology, meteorology), ecology, environmental engineering or natural resource related field and have one year of experience or graduate coursework applying advanced GIS techniques to the production of geologic maps and derivative products. Knowledge of GIS software to facilitate geologic map production is preferred, including Esri’s ArcPro. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications (MQs) for this position. Highlighted Responsibilities:
- Conduct required field work to produce all assigned geologic maps in East Tennessee.
- Utilize GIS and other appropriate software to build and maintain map project databases and maps as required.
- Provide geologic assistance and perform on-site geologic hazard investigations in East Tennessee when requested.
- Participate in educational outreach activities, as needed.
