The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) is currently looking for an experienced Director of Social and Digital Media to expand our social media presence in the US and globally and to engage and promote democratic debate on the most important economic and social issues that affect people’s lives.
This is a full-time position with a preference for applicants based in Washington, DC with the possibility of flexible or remote work schedules.
CEPR seeks a Director of Social and Digital Media to grow and retain our social media presence in English and Spanish, and to engage with social media followers, activists, influencers, journalists, and policymakers. This position will be a key member of CEPR’s communications team reporting to the Co-Directors, and will raise the organization’s profile and influence, while growing our grassroots donor base.
Design and implement social media strategy to align with organization’s goals using established brand and style guidelines.
Manage and create written and multimedia content for all of CEPR’s Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn social media platforms (in English and Spanish).
Collaborate with International, Domestic, and Development teams to generate engaging campaigns and to support planning and production.
Add social media campaigns to content calendars as needed and monitor comments and engagements when appropriate. When appropriate, respond to comments or questions, which might not always be positive.
Participate in social media campaigns in conjunction with coalitions, as needed. Identify key social influencers and build relationships.
Follow CEPR’s peer organizations and develop occasional social media analytics reports to measure the success of accounts and campaigns and draw recommendations, best practices, and insights on an ongoing basis. Track and report regularly on outcomes of outreach efforts.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess strategic thinking skills in digital communications and nonprofit marketing practices, with the expectation of growing those skills to contribute and help guide CEPR’s overall communications strategies.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience with no less than 3 to 5 years managing social media accounts for nonprofits and a keen understanding of the social media landscape, especially with regard to progressive politics and economics.
Excellent writing skills as well as a demonstrated proficiency with graphic design and video.
Ability to develop and understand social media performance metrics and a knowledge of tools for social media listening, management, and analytics.
Organized, detailed-oriented, and communicative, with the ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Experience developing and implementing online content for nonprofit organizations or national and local organizing campaigns.
Compatibility with CEPR’s perspective and commitment to social and economic justice in the US and around the world. Familiarity with basic economic concepts and debates is a plus.
Fluency in English and Spanish.
CEPR offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. The minimum salary for this position is $72,900 per year.
