Lunch with the Recruiter: MARKEY STRONG SCHOLARS PROGRAM: UK Markey Cancer Center

Cargill Science and Health Building (MAC) Markey STRONG Scholars Program | UK Healthcare (uky.edu) is a 10-week program that aims to provide career and professional development for college sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in cancer research who come from historically underserved or underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds. Program dates are May 27 – Aug. 1, 2025. Participants can expect: Personalized mentored research experiences with cancer center mentors and near-peer mentorsDidactic and interactive cancer research lectures from Markey faculty and traineesClinical shadowing experiences with Markey oncology specialistsNetworking and career development activitiesSocial activities with Markey faculty and traineesA stipend of $6,000 ($600 per week)At the end of the program, scholars present their work as part of an Undergraduate Summer Research poster session.
